Built on over a decade and a half of professional design work across medical devices, safety equipment, consumer products, editorial illustration, and brand identity, Quiet Kobo is a reflection of its temperament and philosophy.
Quiet Kobo is a studio working in industrial design, graphic design, and illustration. Making things worth making.
Quiet Kobo has worked alongside individuals and organisations over the last 16 years, across employment and as an independent studio.
Quiet describes both a way of being and a way of working. Kobo is an anglicised version of the Japanese word for workshop. The emphasis is on craft over output.
Four principles have remained non-negotiable from the outset: honesty, user-centred, considered, and built to last. Not as a statement of intent, but as a way of working that predates the studio itself.
Quiet Kobo works across industrial design, graphic design, and illustration as individual disciplines or as part of a single process.
The studio is based in North East Scotland but has worked with clients around the UK and the world.

Most projects start with a simple idea: something that needs to exist, look right, or work better. Whether that's a product to be designed, an idea to be illustrated, or a visual identity to be built, the process usually begins with a conversation.
